About
Welcome to L'Escale - Jetee Belisaire, a charming culinary haven nestled at 2 Avenue Ocean in the picturesque Lege-Cap-Ferret, France. This delightful eatery offers a unique blend of fresh seafood and comforting fare, all while basking in the beautiful bayfront views that the location affords.
As you step into L'Escale, you are greeted by a relaxed, laid-back ambience that invites you to unwind. The outdoor seating is particularly enchanting, offering a perfect spot to enjoy the sea breeze and soak in the sun, making it an ideal choice for families and groups alike. Fiola Puspita captures the essence of this restaurant beautifully, highlighting the atmosphere as 'really nice' and recommending the outside seating for a delightful experience.
The menu is a testament to the ocean’s bounty. Diners rave about the oysters, which are served with a refreshing shallot vinaigrette that elevates their briny flavors. While some reviews noted minor issues with shucking, the overall consensus remains positive. The standout dish is undoubtedly the risotto with asparagus. Its creamy texture and vibrant flavors make it a must-try, though some may find it a tad oily.
For those seeking hearty options, the salmon with rice is praised for its generous portion sizes, catering perfectly to both adults and children. The menu even manages to surprise with a kid-friendly selection that offers more than the usual fried fare, featuring healthy choices like salmon and veggies—a delightful change, as noted by Alex A.
The restaurant truly shines in its ability to accommodate large groups. A recent visit by PalmD WindyC with a party of 11 highlights the efficiency of service, even with young children in tow. The varied food platters and consistent service kept everyone satisfied and entertained amidst the casual breezy atmosphere.
While the ambiance carries a hint of industrial chic due to the restaurant's scale, with some guests like Colin Magne pointing out the need for a cozier touch, others appreciate the lively group vibe, especially during peak hours. The bustling energy can be a lot to handle, but the flavors of the dishes certainly make it worth the wait.
L'Escale - Jetee Belisaire encapsulates the essence of relaxed dining by the sea. The friendly service, thoughtful menu, and stunning location create a haven for seafood lovers and families alike. Whether you indulge in delightful ceviche or savor the renowned bulots in pepper bouillon, your dining experience here is bound to be memorable. Just remember to bring a sprinkle of patience if you arrive during busy times, and prepare for a truly enjoyable meal amidst this enchanting backdrop.
“ Really nice ambience! Recommend outside seating if the weather is good. Food was good though the delay between the entree and mains took quite a while. 9 oysters: tasted okay, some had broken shell fragments from (assumed) shucking. Tastes really good with the shallot vinaigrette. Risotto with asparagus: yum! Bit oily for my taste but still yummy Salmon with Rice: great portion size Grilled Canard: tastes ok! ”
“ We got off the ferry and had a party of 11 with 4 children under 5. They sat us quickly and we had various food platters and pieces (fries!) coming at a pace that kept the kids eating and entertained for 2 hours as the adults relaxed in the lovely patio environment and enjoyed the food! ”
“ Best Bulots around with their pepper bouillon taste. Oysters were also better than the ones we got in the fishers village. The place is nice but the atmosphere is a bit industrial due to the scale of the restaurant. ”
“ A refreshingly healthy spot, especially for families with kids. The Kid’s menu goes beyond the usual fried suspects – think salmon and veggies, which is a welcome change. Adult options were also fresh and well-prepared — definitely above average for a family-friendly bayfront place. Located right on the bay, so the views and breeze are a big bonus. But: • It gets crowded, especially at peak times. • The understaffed service meant rushed interactions and a bit of chaos — more of a lively group dinner vibe than a quiet evening out. Great food, beautiful location — just bring a little patience if it’s busy. ”
“ Great place near the sea! Very friendly service and laid back ambiance. The Ceviche of Ton with cherries and avocado sauce was excellent and such a delightful surprise! I strongly recommend this restaurant for a relaxed dining experience! ”
“ Maxim took good care of our family on the boardwalk of Cal Ferret. Beautiful setting. Delicious fish. Great service. ”
“ Great place as it is open throughout the afternoon. Food was a bit disappointing in the way that we would have expected better quality. The moules were not hot anymore, and a bit too salty, no herbs but the rest was good. Also they were very child friendly. ”
